Completed in March 2018 following a 20-week contract period, this nine-car Volvo showroom has been built in-line with the brand’s Volvo Retail Experience (VRE) concept.

Meda acted as Architect for the project, which involved the complete refurbishment of a former BMW facility on the A38 / Cole Avenue, Gloucester, for Johnsons Cars.

The design retained open views across a split-level floor and incorporates the mandated Volvo viewing windows that provide visibility into the workshop areas from the customer lounges.

The showroom features wide open spaces and a large sales area, affording staff members good views throughout the showroom and forecourt areas.

The workshop is designed to enable the delivery of Volvo Personal Service (VPS), where customers are looked after by their own Volvo Personal Technician, providing a single point of contact and direct relationship. The workshop fitout included the installation of a ‘PlateTronic’ testing drive-on unit that provides automatic tyre tread and alignment tracking.

The attractive showroom design and the incorporation of VRE design features that provide open showroom views improve the customer experience, while customer comfort within this premium automotive facility is enhanced through the new, highly efficient heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system.

The dealership also has a separate showroom that displays four ‘Selekt’ approved used cars, while the workshop has six ‘Volvo Personal Service’ bays. The upper decks provide car storage and valeting facilities, customer parking and 27 Selekt approved used car display spaces.
